Dr.
Reichler's Spring 2006 Bio 301L Bonus #3
This assignment is optional and can be worth a maximum of 2 points
added to your final grade.
You have been hired as an aide to a congressperson. When they
found out that you took biology at UT, they ask you to help draft a
bill for the congressperson to submit about stem cells. Propose a law about stem cells.
Write out the law, and then give the reasons behind your proposed
law. In your reasons include what you hope the law will
accomplish and why this law is needed. Also include at least two
arguments against
your law along with how your boss should respond to these
counter-arguments. The congressperson's time is limited, so your
proposal should not exceed two pages.
Remember that using someone else's ideas is acceptable,
but using someone else's ideas without citing them is plagiarism.
Be certain to cite any sources that you use, and a reference page will
not count towards the 2 page limit.
Based on
your paper, you can receive up to 2 points added to your final
grade. The typed/word-processed paper should be printed and
turned in during class on December 8,
2006 at
9am in class. If you have any questions about this, don't
hesitate to ask.
