This optional assignment is due in class 4 April 2007 at 11am

This assignment is optional and can be worth a maximum of 2 points added to your final grade.

Write a short essay about a four (4) genes.  For each gene include at least the following information:  the name of the gene; what organism(s) it can be found in; what is the normal function of the gene product, where is it normally expressed, and what happens when it does not function correctly.  Be certain to cite any sources that you use.  (You may not use genes we have discussed in class such as telomerase, helicase, DNA or RNA polymerase, etc.)

This assignment should not exceed 800 words.  Please print it and turn it in by the start of class 11am on April 4, 2007.  This optional bonus will be graded on a scale of 0-2 points.  I will subtract 0.5 points for each day late.
