Image of L8 cells growing on a coverslip. The cells were fixed, permeabilized, and then labeled with rhodamine-phalloidin. Phalloidin is a plant alkaloid that binds to actin. It can be used as a stain for fluorescence microscopy if it is conjugated to a fluorochrome. Here the fluorochrome was rhodamine. The actin filaments in the cells are visible. |
